Photo Challenge Update: Gratitude

06 Feb Photo Challenge Update: Gratitude #my2016theme

As you may have noticed, I’ve been writing more and generally more active on social media lately. I’ve been creating weekly articles and blog posts full of insights and tips designed to help you think differently about work, communication and innovation. This will continue throughout the year.

In a blog post last month I proclaimed 2016 to be my “Year of Gratitude” and have been posting a daily photo on Instagram @dantrommater with the hashtag #my2016theme.

Instead of making a resolution, I’ve shifted my perspectives about my ‘goals’ and instead chose this theme for the year. This is me simply taking a bit of time to stop and acknowledge the good in my life, and I’m happy to be sharing this with you as one of the most powerful ways to benefit from a yearly theme is to share it with a like-minded community.

In a previous post I noted how taking a few moments to be grateful for what we have has been scientifically shown to have a big impact on quality of life. According to research done at the University of California, Berkeley, people of all ages benefit physically, emotionally and socially from being actively grateful. Pretty powerful stuff.

Here are some highlights of my gratitude photos

Your Gratitude Photos

  • @jaimealmond – Celebrating Australia Day!
  • @cedarandgray – Beach walks with the pups.
  • @broniewyn – Beautiful Winter days and long walks with long dogs.

Do you have your theme going for 2016? If not, a good place to start is considering any desired changes and distilling them down into one umbrella word or phrase that can be your go-to intention through the year. Choose something that you want more of in your life. Keep positive.

I’d love to hear about all of your themes and see your photos that represent them! Visit me on Instagram for some inspiration, and don’t forget to tag your photos with #my2016theme.

Together, we will work our way through the year, helping each other stick to our themes and increasing the good stuff in our lives and work.

Shift Perspectives In Your Organization

During my keynotes and workshops, I challenge participants about the perspectives that they hold onto that can be causing them to resist change or hinder projects. Through the use of magic they experience how their worldview is just one of many. See The Magic of Thinking Differently to find out more.
