Hi there! I’m Dan Trommater and I love helping people be better. What kind of better? Better at work. Better at home. Just plain better. And really, it’s not up to me how they get better. What matters is how they want to be better.
Empathy is at the core of all my work. By building the skill of empathy (yes, it’s a skill that can be practiced, developed, and improved) people become better communicators, team members, and leaders.
Whether it’s as a keynote speaker for hundreds, a workshop facilitator for dozens, or a one-on-one coach, I delight in helping people gain new perspectives, solve their own problems, and create better futures for themselves, their organizations and society as a whole.
I believe in the empathetic approach of many people in the helping professions of coaching, therapy, and social work – “You need to meet people where they are before you can take them where they want to go.”
I see a lot of speakers, trainers, and ‘experts’ impose their content upon audiences with no regard to the unique individuals in the room. “Here’s my 5-step process for improvement. Go do it and you’ll succeed.” I think that’s preposterous and presumptuous! It’s as though each person’s needs, challenges, and abilities are the same. This one-size-fits-all approach is not only ineffective, it’s insulting.
That’s why I offer more questions than I do answers. Sure, I provide proven tools, research-backed techniques, and eye-opening new perspectives. But that’s just the beginning. Then I ask the questions that help each person (or team) find their own best answer to their specific challenges.
Plus, I’ve been a professional magician for over 20 years, so my programs are super engaging and a lot of fun. I use world-class magic and optical illusions as visual metaphors that convey ideas and content in a way that words alone simply fall short.
