I believe that you have everything you need; and everything you have, you need. My job as your coach is to help you tap into your strengths to get more of what you want. You already are awesome. I’m here to help you figure out how to put that awesomeness to best use!

In addition to being a keynote speaker and workshop facilitator, I’m a certified coach and I work with a small number of coaching clients as their thinking partner, cheerleader, and assumption buster. My approach to coaching is collaborative, non-judgemental, and supportive. My job is to help you go from where you are, to where you want to be in any area(s) of your life. You can focus on personal or professional issues. In fact, there’s certainly overlap between those areas of your life, so if we decide to work together, we’ll likely touch on both.

WHAT COACHING IS:

  • An equal partnership between the coach and the client. I am here to help you work through issues and take action, but it’s up to you to decide upon what actions to take and then actually take them.
  • Present and future-focused. While it may be interesting to think about why things are the way they are, coaching is about looking at the current state and working towards a better future.
  • Confidential. What happens in coaching, stays in coaching.
  • Based in curiosity. As your coach, I’ll ask lots of questions. These will be asked from an inquisitive perspective, with no judgement of the answers.

WHAT COACHING IS NOT:

  • Advice giving – Even if I have expertise in an area that you’re working on, it’s expertise that’s specific to my particular life, so it’s not likely the best answer for you. I’ll help you find your own best answer to move forward.
  • Therapy – We may deal with (and make progress on) some heavy stuff, but coaching is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment. If you have issues with clinical depression, anxiety, and the like, I can help you seek out qualified professionals that can help. That said, coaching can be a great way to overcome psychological blocks and get you moving forward.
  • Skill Building – If you want to learn specific skills, take a class. However, when appropriate, I may offer some tools and techniques for you to explore.

SO, HOW DOES IT WORK?

The first step will be a short phone call so I can answer any questions you have about coaching. You can ask me any questions you like to help decide if coaching is for you, and if so, if I’m a good fit.

Once you decide to go for it, I’ll send you a letter of agreement and questionnaire to fill out and return to me in advance of our “Discovery Session”. During the Discovery Session (on the Zoom video conferencing platform), we’ll go over the questionnaire and talk about what you hope to accomplish in our time together, then jump right into coaching. This Discovery Session will last between 1.5 and 2 hours. All subsequent sessions will be an hour.

HOW LONG WILL THIS GO ON?

Everyone is different, so there really is no ‘normal’ duration of coaching relationships. Some go a few weeks, some a few months, and others continue for as long as it’s a good fit for both of us. I like to start with a 10-hour plan that includes the Discovery Session, followed by 8 weekly one-hour sessions. At the end of that time, we’ll see where you are compared to where you want to be and reassess. You might choose to continue at the same pace, build more time between sessions, or stop coaching altogether. My job is to coach myself out of a job!

WHAT’S THE INVESTMENT?

We value what we’ve invested in. When we’ve put our resources into something, we tend to take it more seriously and get better results. With that in mind, I tend to favor a sliding-scale model for pricing. Let’s decide if it’s a good fit first, then we’ll worry about fees.
